Custom Builds Red Burl Telecaster

2025

NOTE

The pictures above are computer renderings based on a picture of the body and a suggested configuration for neck and hardware.

Crafted for tone and character, this custom Telecaster body features a luxurious burl-maple cap over a solid mahogany back, its swirling grain figures bursting with life. Hand-applied red dye flows seamlessly into a dramatic black dye-burst around the edges, imparting serious mojo and the visual depth is increased by the hand-applied gloss finish. It’s the perfect canvas for your choice of pickups, neck and controls (not included).

Players's note: It's a remarkably light body and resonant body for its size and composition. It originally came from a luthier who promised it was ready for finish, but when I got it, it was misshapen and had gobs of Tru Oil applied which made the finish look cheap. I re-profiled the body, removed the finish and most of the original dyed wood to get to clean grain. I then hand applied high quality red dye and the black dye burst. The back is stained, not painted, which leaves a much thinner finish without covering the wood. The pictures you see here are mockups done by my friend Mike who is a wizrd with CAD. Holes are already drilled for the bridge to make assembly easy. All electronics will need to be surface mounted as there is no opening in the back of the guitar.
