Ember Details

Ember is a hand carved, dye-burst Fender USA Stratocaster Alder body. I purchased the body as a factory second on eBay. I'm guessing it was due to a knot in the wood near the bottom strap pin (Intake).

It was purchased by a working blues musician out of Chicago.

The feeling of the carved body is pretty special. You just want to keep running your hands over it, it feels so nice. It's been variously described as "alive" and "feathery" by several guitarists who have had a chance to play it. I finished the body with 3 coats of spray satin polyurethane.

In the progress entries below you'll see mention of Tru-oil, but I removed that since I feel it was a bad choice for this guitar (or any other, IMHO).
