Jester Custom Paint

My cousin Michelle is an artist and I asked her to put her considerable talents to work on a Swamp Ash Stratocaster and here are the results. The work exceeded my wildest expectations and I'm sorely, sorely tempted to keep this body for myself and build a killer axe out of it.

The areas of bare wood that you see will be covered by the pickguard (front) and by the tremolo cover (back). I may skip the tremolo cover on the back since it would cover up a cool part of the work, as you can see for yourself. The grain of the swamp ash really pops out in the areas where stain was used instead of paint. I elected not to put primer on the body since it would hide the grain and I'm glad.

If I get the right offer for the body, I'll sell it. If not, I will make it into an axe for myself. If this inspires any ideas for you and you'd like to see them come to life like this on a guitar, use the contact link to get in touch.

Next step is to put a protective coat on it. I'm thinking semi gloss will help keep the grain prominent, though gloss may look cool here. I'll have to think some about it.
