Description

A bold image of a phoenix adorns this 1963 archtop jazz guitar. Once destined for the landfill because of all of the damage it sustained in its life, I felt the image was only fitting.

The decoration was done using India ink by hand based on a tattoo design.

This is a decorative item and not meant to be played. Once you look at the slides to see the damage done you'll understand why. What originally attracted me to the guitar was the beautiful grain of the top and the fact that it was relatively unscathed. After tortuous hours of scraping and sanding and stabilization of the damage, I think it looks pretty sharp.
