Sitar Intake
This sitar is different than most because it has no sympathetic strings. That certainly makes cleaning and restringing this way easier than normal. Here are some of the details of the damage:
- The face of the headstock is broken off and cracked, looks mostly complete
- Both bridges are missing (from what little I know there should be a bridge for the main strings and the sympathetic strings; since this has no sympathetic strings the latter might not be necessary)
- One of the chikari pegs is missing. This goes into a hole on the fretboard.
- The sitar guide (nut) is missing
- The bowl is badly cracked and missing a piece awhere it meets the sound board
- The finish on the the bowl is flaking off
- White finials are broken off of four of the seven tuners
- There are miscellaneous cracks, dents, dings and gouges all over, but those can be seen in the pictures below.
