Hickory Desk Large
A live edge, spalted Hickory wood desk with custom butterflow (bowtie) detail. The bowties were created and inlaid by hand and consist of a black walnut bowtie with maple detail at the top and bottom. These bowties, combined with steel c-channel inserts under the desk, keep the two major drying cracks from increasing. I do not use epoxy to fill the cracks as it tends to yellow over time and, let's face it, epoxy is plastic. The live edges contain white and black (blue) spalting to highlight the edges.
The hickory is mounted on a motorized standing desk with the controls attached to the right lower corner for a perfect mix of modern and natural.
