Furniture Sycamore Headboard

2024

This one-of-a-kind king size headboard is both furniture and relief sculpture, designed to anchor the room with warmth, texture and quiet drama.

At its center is a wide panel of hand-carved sycamore, meticulously worked to create a rhythmic, faceted surface that catches light and shadow throughout the day. The carving transforms an otherwise subtle wood into something alive and tactile, inviting closer inspection without overwhelming the space.

Framing the sycamore is sugi ban treated pine, charred using the traditional Japanese yakisugi technique, then brushed and sealed to reveal deep grain, rich black tones and natural variation. The contrast between the dark, fire-treated pine and the warm, luminous sycamore creates a striking balance of refinement and raw material honesty.

Designed for modern, Scandinavian and organic interiors, this headboard brings a sense of calm weight and craftsmanship to the bedroom, equally at home in minimalist spaces or more rustic settings.

Handmade in the U.S. by Goldbach Arts, this is a true statement piece built to last generations.
