Home And Garden Bird House

2025

This birdhouse began its life on a stage.

The exterior is formed from recycled drumsticks originally played at Berklee College of Music in Boston, each one shaped by hand and carefully set in place. Once tools of tempo and timing, the sticks now form a protective shell that quite literally keeps the beat of the outdoors. The body is crafted from solid cherry, chosen for its warmth, durability and graceful aging.

Every drumstick was individually sized and fitted, then secured with outdoor-rated nails to ensure long-term resilience in changing weather. No two surfaces are identical, and the subtle wear marks and grain variations tell a quiet story of use, motion and music.

The design intentionally omits a perch or post. This isn’t an oversight but a safeguard. Without an easy landing spot, predators are discouraged, making the house safer for small nesting birds while preserving a clean, sculptural silhouette.

Equal parts functional shelter and conversation piece, this birdhouse bridges sound and craft, performance and patience. It’s a second life for materials that once kept time, now keeping watch.
